People spending more time at home during the pandemic have been looking at how to improve their homes, and one way to transform a home is through new furniture. Furniture experts based in Florida, USA, have explained why it is better to buy antique furniture for the home.

Though they are based in the USA, the experts’ advice equally applies to British consumers. Writing for the Digital Journal, the experts say antiques are best as they are environmentally friendly. Items such as antique dining chairs , tables and desks are made from solid wood, which is a natural product. Though antique furniture lasts a lifetime, it is also good to know that the wood can be recycled.

Antiques are well-made by craftsmen and are designed to last. Unlike cheap flatpack furniture, antique furniture will last many decades and can be passed down to the next generation.

While antique furniture may not follow current home decor trends, antiques are timeless items that fit into any home. In addition, antiques say something about British and European history and culture. They are a testament to past customs and etiquette. Fine antiques may be more expensive than some new furniture, but most pieces hold their value or can increase in price.

The easing of lockdown restrictions has been welcomed by the antique trade, which is open for business again. At Lancashire antique dealers, there is no shortage of fine antique furniture to enhance the look of any room.
