Airbnb is a popular way to find accommodation for a holiday or weekend break. There are some unusual Airbnb places to stay in, including ones that feature antique furniture.
In Dover, you can stay in the grounds of Dover Castle in what used to be the garrison officers’ accommodation with original features including canopied beds, beamed ceilings and other antique features.
A converted chapel at Tyler Hill in Canterbury looks like a house from the 1930s with dark leather Chesterfield chairs and flower curtains.
Further afield, you can stay at a home near the Hudson railway station in the USA that has many of the original features from when the house was built in 1860, including a mahogany stairwell and etched glass windows. The kitchen has a vintage fridge, radio and stove that were made later than 1860, but are several decades old.
If you prefer to stay at a hotel, The Mandarin Suite at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong contains priceless antiques, restored furniture and expensive ancient artefacts. The suite is not cheap at $78,500 Hong Kong dollars (£8,000) a night, but it does sleep twelve people.
If you want to enjoy antique furniture all year round, for a lower cost than a few nights stay in an Airbnb, you can purchase fine antique sofas, chests, chairs, cabinets and more from Lancashire unique dealers. To help you buy antiques, when you go on holiday, you could rent your antique-filled home as a prestige Airbnb property.
