Four antique dealers have recorded a song that they hope will become the new Christmas number one, competing against such stars as Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and the X Factor winner.
Charles Henson was approached by a music producer to take part in the project. He was helped by fellow antique dealers Charlie Ross, Phil Serrell and James Braxton who are well known TV faces from shows like Bargain Hunt, Celebrity Antiques Road Trip and Flog It!
The record was released last Friday, December 1 and is now available to download on iTunes. The name of the antique dealers’ group is ‘Bargain Hunt’ and the song is titled ‘Sleigh Ride’.
Commenting on the project, Henson said:
“We went to Chiswick in London to make the song in a recording studio and it was great fun. We also made a pop video which may take people by surprise when it is revealed.
“All we want to do is produce a bit of priceless Christmas fun and raise some money for a good cause. As well as Children In Need, any money raised will benefit Great Ormond Street Hospital, in London.”
The group admit that they are not great singers or musicians, but antique lovers should be entertained by the song. An added incentive for them to buy it is that a minimum of 50p from each single sale will go to Children in Need.
Antique shops in Lancashire may not be staffed by singing antique dealers, but they can provide a fine selection of high quality antique wardrobes and antique sofas worth making a song and dance about!
