A piece of furniture has been designed specifically for the new Royal baby, His Royal Highness, Prince George.

The seat was unveiled during the preview of the Child’s Chair exhibition, which opened on 4th April and will continue until the end of May.

The show has been organised by Chris Baylis and his colleagues at The Real Wood Furniture Company, and will present a history of children’s chairs throughout the years.

Windsor chairs and those with a country style will be the main focus, although other types of seat will also feature.

The George is a child’s chair that has been made by Baylis and his team to celebrate the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s baby. The style of the furniture is based upon the Southern Windsor chairs produced during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Once the chair has been unveiled at the exhibition, it will be on display until the end of May. It will then be presented to the young prince, if permitted by royal protocol.

A number of antique chairs will be on sale during the exhibition, in addition to new children’s seats produced in a country style. Unique pieces from Baylis’ private collection will also be on display, including a rare American Boston rocking chair.

Although antique chairs are popular, collectors may want a more comfortable seat to complement other designs, such as an antique sofa. Cumbria has a number of established antiques dealers who have various pieces for sale, including vintage sofas and antique dining chairs .
