The celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of Clarks Summit presented a perfect opportunity for Lorraine Durkin to indulge her greatest passion-the Victorian era. August 2011 marks 100 years for the borough, and the whole town were involved in celebrations last week. Builders and developers in Chicago are basking in a renewed interest for properties, as they mix the old style with the new. Homeowners, builders and developers are all on the lookout for old treasure which will create a demand for their property. Steve Riordan is one homeowner with properties in Chicago and Flossmoor that have been renovated using antiques combined with new fittings. The organisers of the Antiques Collectibles and Militaria Fair were left astounded by the resounding success of the event held at the Bundaberg Civic Centre, Australia last weekend. Stephen Proh, the committee chairman said that although the Friday was successful, the Saturday was even busier.

A second sale is to be held by Peter Wilson auctioneers in September 2011, which will include items from Harry Sheldon’s Wedgwood collection, previously thought to have been auctioned in 1998, following his death in 1996. However, the son of Harry Sheldon, also named Harry was left some pieces from the Wedgwood collection in his father’s will, which he continued to add to over the years.
