The last Antique and Fine Art Auction of 2013 will take place soon at Dee, Atkinson & Harrison auctioneers. More than 600 lots will be included in the sale, including antique furniture, jewellery and ceramics.
The auction will commence with the sale of the silver and plate items. Among the pieces, collectors will discover Edwardian and Victorian military trophies. As this auction is the last before Christmas, the jewellery section tends to have a lot of pieces, this year including a 3ct solitaire diamond ring valued at £11,500.
Auctions usually have a miscellaneous section, with items like a Victorian coal scuttle, walking canes and sticks, drawing instruments and a Leica IIIB camera thought to be worth around £400. The ceramics section includes both modern and traditional items, like a pair of Bohemian vases valued at £300.
The furniture section is typically popular, although purchases cost more as they include a buyer’s premium. Similar items may be discovered at antiques dealers, where a buyer can take their time to browse and discuss the furniture with the dealer if required.
antique chests of drawers, display cabinets, bookcases and antique dining tables from the 17th Century will be included in the auction.
Antiques, including items of furniture, are often spotted while browsing round an antiques dealer, with a piece catching the eye. There are dealers with various pieces of antique furniture, including Victorian oak pedestal desks , in Blackburn.
The Dee, Atkinson & Harrison sale is scheduled for tomorrow.
