The production team of the popular antiques TV show Flog It! will be visiting Layer Marney in Essex, inviting people in the area to bring along their antiques and collectibles for free valuation. On 24th July the Flog It! team, along with presenter Paul Martin, will welcome people to Layer Marney Tower.
Each person can bring three items they want to have valued. When the items have been valued, it is up to the owner to decide – along with the experts – whether or not they would like to place the item up for auction. If this is the case, the antiques or collectibles will go to auction just a few weeks after the valuation has taken place. According to the producer of the series, Louise Hibbins, the whole team – including the appraisers – is looking forward to hosting the show in Essex. Flog It! isn’t the first antiques show to have been filmed at Layer Marney, as the Antiques Roadshow was filmed there two years previously. Experts Elizabeth Talbot and Philip Serrell will be performing appraisals on the day of filming. Any items picked out to be sold at auction will be included in a sale in August.
Collectors of antiques, including antique furniture, will discover that they can find items at a lower price than at auction, as the buyer’s premium won’t be included. Antique dealers in Lancashire have a wealth of knowledge they are happy to share with anyone looking for a specific variety of antique, including arts and crafts furniture .
