Dustin Hoffman – star of critically acclaimed films such as The Graduate, Rain Main and Death of a Salesman – has recently made the decision to sell some of his possessions at an auction.
The items for sale include an antique chair and table, designer jewellery, autographed movie paraphernalia and more.
Hoffman, aged 76, lives in a luxury apartment which has also been the home of Steve Martin, Diane Keaton and Steven Spielberg.
The Hollywood actor has decided that some of his possessions need to be sold and the auction will include a George III chair, upholstered in leather, an Irish mahogany antique table from mid-18th Century and Asian furniture. Hoffman isn’t selling any collectibles from his own films, but is including two movie projectors which have been signed and dated, along with stills from the movie ‘Lola’, made in 1961 and directed by Jacques Demy.
A porcelain doll collection is to be included in the auction, with the initial asking prices starting at $25 up to $1,500. The prices paid by bidders will include a buyer’s premium, which will increase the overall cost.
The auction is being hosted by Nye & Co and is to continue until 17th December.
Collectors often discover similar items at reputable antiques dealers for a lower price. A selection of pieces can be found in Lancashire, including antique dining tables . Dealers also give buyers the opportunity to browse before making a final decision on whether or not to purchase an item.
