As any good boss in Lancashire knows, a Victorian oak partners desk is always an imposing presence in the office; something that may have occurred to Horrible Bosses star Jennifer Aniston when she went shopping in West Hollywood recently.
The Friends actress and her future husband, actor Justin Theroux, were spotted browsing the antique stores of LA, looking for furniture to adorn the palatial Bel Air mansion they bought last January. After paying $21 million for the property, Jennifer threw herself into its redesign, even ripping out a vineyard in the grounds. Now renovations are almost complete, the couple are excitedly choosing antique furniture, and may even have the wedding there. With 8,500 square feet of floor space, there will certainly be plenty of room for a few antique dining tables and Victorian balloon backed dining chairs .
Cumbrians wondering if the home will become some tacky showbiz showpiece should rest assured that Ms Aniston has impeccable taste. She focussed her attention on the upmarket stores along La Cienega Boulevard, browsing antique cabinets, Open Bookcases and other fine furniture from predominately British and European designers, covering the 17th to the early 20th centuries. The couple also found time to examine the sculptures and fine artworks that were on display.
Although Jennifer Aniston is best known in Lancashire for her role as Rachel in Friends, she has been in a number of movies since, including Wanderlust in 2012, with husband-to-be Justin Theroux. However, it isn’t necessary to be a screen legend to get the Hollywood look. Antique dealers in Preston have Victorian mahogany partners desks that would grace the office of any movie mogul.
