An auctioneer from Shropshire has been selected to work behind the scenes as a valuer for the popular TV show Flog It!.
Aaron Dean will work with the crew and other valuers when the show visits Nottinghamshire, to pick out items which may be of interest on the programme.
Aaron, who is 33 years of age, works as a salesroom valuer and auctioneer for a fine art auction house. His interest began when he was around 12 years old and used to watch Antiques Roadshow. The Flog It! team will visit Southwell Minster in Nottinghamshire on 30th January, where Aaron will filter out items which may be of extra interest. Paul Martin, the presenter, will then be filmed talking about the item. According to Aaron, visitors to the saleroom where he works are always talking about the TV series Flog It! which makes his invitation to appear even more exciting.
An interest in fine art began when Aaron spent time on a work placement with the fine art specialists. He then attended Southampton Institute to complete a course in the valuation of fine art. He states that the highlight of an auction is that you never know when an item will start at £10 and end up at £10,000.
The value of items at auction is less predictable than at a dealer, as people will sometimes pay much more for an item they really want. Buyers looking for antique furniture, like antique desks will be able to browse at one of the dealers in Blackburn and be sure of its value.
