Kendal Auction Complex is the premier bidding location for antique furniture dealers and collectors from Cumbria and Preston. antique dining tables, Victorian dining chairs and antique mahogany partners desks are just some of the items going under the hammer each month. Now, relocation to a new site just off the M6 motorway has made it even easier to bid for antique chests in Cumbria.
If you see antique balloon back dining chairs alongside Lancashire Saddlebacks at your local agricultural show, don’t be surprised. The Kendal Auction Complex is owned by the L&K Group, and primarily a livestock auction site. However, L&K also have a Fine Art & Furniture division, trading as Kendal Auction Rooms, which is located within the main auction complex (although presumably in a different place to where the Gloucestershire Old Spots are put on display!)
Until recently, the complex was located in Kendal town centre. Fine if you’re a vendor from Preston with an antique mahogany pedestal desk to sell, but not so good for Lakeland farmers wanting to take their sheep to market. The new premises are located at Crooklands, Milnthorpe, adjacent to Junction 36 of the M6 and the A65 interchange. Chosen for its more suitable rural location, it is an exciting development which will provide South Lakeland farmers with a modern, convenient livestock marketplace, as well as an agricultural business centre.
It also gives antique dealers from both Cumbria and Lancashire easy access to fine furniture such as antique balloon back dining chairs and Victorian oak pedestal desks . Preston is just 36 miles away, and many of the Victorian dining chairs and antique desks on sale originate from Cumbria.
